When considering my entrance I really liked the idea off a tower or fort in a cave. It's a really neat idea. Problem now it seems is drawing up the map, I would say I want to hand draw my map, it feels "right" by doing that.
I have started with a cross section, to give me an idea on how the entry to the mega dungeon will shape up. I know I want the entry level to consist of traps, encounters and what not designed for a group of player between 1st and 3rd level, as this seems to be the standard.
My question now is, why is the entrance to the mega dungeon so poorly defended? I mean, whats going on here, that the big baddie on level 24 feels that its ok to protect the entrance of his Mega Dungeon of Doom with a handful of Kobolds and some Goblins?
I think I may have an answer but until I get a clearer picture as to the "Why the Piss are we going in here" question, this may have to wait.
Anyway, here's the 1st draft of the Entry way, or Tower Level.
Well like I said its just a draft, to kind of give me an Idea as to what direction I need to go...
I like the Watchtower, then a statue leading to underground stairs.
It seems like alot but I am of the mind set that maybe it is used as a basci introduction to dungeon crawling.
It has been suggested in the comments of my last post that prehaps so sort of group occupys the castle and it in turn is a cork of sorts keeping evil at bay....hhhmmm...kinda like the Ice Wall from Game of Thrones....oh crap, am I gonna steal an idea...
