Of course it was always my intention to build Reach Imperative as a campaign setting, but as I look for a suitable rule set for Reach I find road block after road block.
Building my own Heartbreaker is an option, a tough one, but an option I think I want to follow.
Lore wise things are coming together and much of what I have been researching has been really exciting.
I have come to the conclusion, and I don't want to offend anyone but, Transhumanism is crap.
I know I might upset some folks with that, but then if I did, It would "prove" a major problem I have with Transhumanism.
I have already mentioned that while religion plays a role in my setting, I would have not one bit of metaphysical content. No miracles, or psionics, no space clerics, and such. And well transhumanism on levels, delves into a metaphysical realm, at least in it's extremes. Godlike AI's and technology being indistinguishable from magic is just to much and something I have to draw a line on. I also have issue with transhumanism's ties to transcendentalism again way to much metaphysical crap there.
So no don't be posting your crap about how great Transhumanism is, I refuse to debate it...jerk that I am...right? Sure I am a jerk....oh well...
What was I talking about....
Oh doing the RPG thing..
I need to build it on a solid foundation, like maybe the Rules Cyclopedia....yeah a sci fi based on the RC, that sounds epic...I love the RC....
So that's it then, I will use the RC, as a base atleast. Reach Imperative fixes my alein races, well cause there are none...or are there...naw screw that I still dig the human only campaign.
So I will be coming through my RC and begin looking at sci fi equivalents to the core classes. Also I think I will be using a skill system similar to the RC as well as its weapon specializations.
Which then this does make me think about backgrounds or genotypes of the different humans of interstellar space...that is gonna be a headache...
Still reading or have you quit to send me a dirty rant on my anti Transhumanism spill?
Kewl, still with me, we are all big boys (girls?) here right?
Now that is not to say I won't have gene modded humans or cyborgs, cause I am, I am just excluding transhumanisms over the top, "fantasy" feel.
Next up...Giant Robots?
